Belur (Karnataka), a taluk in Hassan District, is well known for its historic Chennakeshava Temple and is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Beluru’s main attraction is the Chennakeshava Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu from the 12th century , which took more than 100 years to be completed.
Built in the Hoysala Architecture Style, the temple’s sculptures, carvings and iconography exhibits the richness of Art and Architecture of the Hoysala Empire.
Halebidu (Halebeedu) is another historic town in Hassan District, Karnataka which is around 17 kms from Belur. The Hoysaleswara Temple (Halebidu Temple) is the main attraction of the town.
The Monument was built by the Hoysalas in the 12 century, which was then invaded, plundered and destroyed in the early 14th century. Now, we can see the ruins of many artworks , status and structures in the monument.
